    Betaine is used for its main functions:
    Osmoregulation to reduce the effects of: heat stress, a dysfuncyional gut or gut infections, the transition of fish from fresh to salt water
    Carcass improvement: reduction in fat deposition, higher percentage of lean meat, attractant for fish and crustaceans, Methylation to support rapid growth, replacement of choline or methionine.
